? It is a holistic approach that focuses on the practice of breathing, stretching and relaxing. After a good yoga session, you feel like you’ve just had a massage. The benefits of yoga include relaxation of the body and mind, mental calmness, stress reduction, a feeling of peace, increased flexibility and strength, awareness of your body, muscle tone, awareness of your breathing, more energy and slowing down the effects of aging.
Hot yoga is the newest craze. This type of yoga is done in a room with a temperature of 95 -100 degrees. Such energetic yoga sessions at this temperature will cause profuse sweating and makes the body very warm, and therefore more flexible.
Power yoga is a general term used in to describe a vigorous, fitness-based approach to vinyasa style yoga. Power yoga is likely the yoga you will find in gyms across North America. Power yoga does not follow a set series of poses. Therefore, any power yoga class can vary widely from the next. Power yoga focuses on strength and flexibility and is seen as a way to work out. For this reason it will most likely appeal to people who enjoy exercising and are not as interested in the meditation and relaxation benefits of yoga.
In Vinyasa-style-yoga classes, poses will flow from one to another in conjunction with the breath.
Ashtanga yoga is extremely popular. It is a vigorous, athletic style of practice. It appeals to those who like a sense of order and who like to do things independently.
